The WashU Engineering Mentor Program (EMP) pairs an engineering junior, senior, or BS/MS student with an alum from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Alumni mentors provide insight into the working world and how to be successful as a young professional. Students also learn about career options within their major or field of interest. The Engineering Mentor Program is jointly operated by the Career Center and Alumni & Development Programs.
What Does the Program Entail?
Students and mentors will communicate throughout the year on career-related topics. You will determine the frequency and method of your communication, such as once a month for coffee or chat regularly over e-mail. Some students tour their mentor’s employer or shadow their mentor for a day. Students and mentors commit to attending three on-campus events throughout the year (see dates below). They will also sign a commitment to two additional activities outside the on campus events.
